Gvozdyk will compete for the title of interim champion

The WBC sanctioned the fight of the Ukrainian boxer against David Benavidez.

Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KO) will fight for the WBC interim champion belt in his next fight.

The Ukrainian boxer’s opponent in this fight is American David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs).

This was announced by the President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Suleiman.

“Extremely proud to announce the surprise WBC sanctioned interim light heavyweight title fight between Benavidez and Gvozdyk. Good luck to both champions,” Suleiman wrote on Network X.

Also, the holding of this fight was confirmed by WBC Ukraine President Nikolai Kovalchuk in an interview with vRINGe.

“Yesterday the WBC rating was updated. Gvozdyk is second. And now there is good news. He will fight for the title of interim WBC champion with David Benavidez. This is a PPV fight. A very cool fight. The date and location of the match will be announced later.

It was previously known when Gvozdyk would return to the ring.
