Viner about Valieva alongside Putin at the opening of the “Games of the Future”: “He showed that no one can offend a child”

President of Russia Vladimir Poutine next to whom was the figure skater at the opening ceremony of the “Games of the Future” Kamila Valieva showed that sport should be outside of politics, that no one can offend a child, said the head of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner .

Valieva was alongside Putin at the opening ceremony of the Future Games in Kazan on February 21.

— Is it important that Kamila Valieva is at the opening of the Future Games alongside the president?

– Of course, it’s important. Our president is the greatest person of global importance. It is a great honor to sit next to such a person.

We also had a moment where Dina Averina was unfairly removed from the top spot at the Olympics. She stood on the podium in Red Square. I think if she had become an Olympic champion, she would not have been received like that. Same thing with this girl who sat next to the president. With this gesture, he showed that sport must be outside of politics, that no one can offend a child,” reports the correspondent, according to Viner’s words.

At the end of January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The 17-year-old Russian’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021, and her results have been canceled since that date.

The competitions are broadcast on the channels of the Match sub-holding, as well as on streaming platforms.
