Athletistic/Others. Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Sergei Shepikov expressed his opinion on the Match TV channel regarding the rejection of the appeal of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) regarding the temporary suspension, arguing that history would eventually put everything in its place and that Russia could return to international competition.

On Friday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the ROC’s appeal against the provisional suspension.

Chepikov noted that there was pressure from all sides, but that with time, history would clarify everything. He also highlighted the importance of organizing alternative competitions with the participation of friendly countries, such as the Future Games and the Friendship Games, and expressed his conviction that sport should unite.

Sergei Shepikov also expressed confidence that in the future the situation would change, the negative attitude towards Russia would subside and the composition of the IOC would change. He stressed that he believes in Russia’s return to international sports competitions and the IOC has already announced the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in individual neutral status.
