Athletistic/Rhythmic gymnastics. Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova told the Match TV channel that Dina and Arina Averina will be remembered thanks to unfair refereeing at the 2020 Olympics.

Earlier on Friday, the president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFHG), Irina Viner, announced that the gymnasts had finished their careers. At the Tokyo Olympics, Dina Averina competed in all four all-around events and took second place. Israeli Lina Ashram won. Arina Averina remained outside the podium, taking fourth place.

“The whole country will remember them for the unfair judgment of the 2020 Olympics. One of them, of course, should have become Olympic champion, but she was deprived of gold in front of everyone. They have their own style, aesthetic and beauty. For me, each of the girls is remembered for their unique beauty. They have always been together, it’s an incredible story. But each sport has its specific age.

We remember those who face injustice, and they move forward and win,” Zhurova told the Match TV channel.
