Honored coach of Russia Tatyana Tarasova believes that due to strong competition within the country, the level of Russian figure skating remains high despite the exclusion from international competitions.

— Judging by the way our athletes work, we can say that our competitions were excellent: both the junior championship and the national championship. All competitions were very interesting and eventful. The skaters learned a lot this year, some did quadruple jumps.

The process is ongoing, we are not standing still. A large competition within the country allows us to maintain a high level of figure skating. As you can see, we manage to maintain interest in women’s skating without figures such as Tuktamysheva and Shcherbakova, ”Tarasova told Metaratings.ru.

The International Skating Union (ISU) confirmed in early June the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization. This decision was made in 2022 in the context of the situation in Ukraine.
