Athletistic / Rhythmic gymnastics. Silver medalist at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA) in rhythmic gymnastics, Russian Yana Batyrshina reacted to the decision of Dina and Arina Averin to end their careers. She thinks the Averina sisters can succeed in politics.

“An era has passed for me. Dina and Arina are great athletes. They brought Russia so many medals that it is difficult to count them – these are the Olympic Games, the World and European Championships. They have set numerous records in rhythmic gymnastics.

The Averina sisters are the pride of the entire sports world, unique and legendary athletes. I’m really sorry they’re ending their careers, but I understand girls. By the standards of rhythmic gymnastics, they are already of considerable age (25 years old – Rating Athletistic).

I am sure that Dina and Arina have an interesting and eventful life ahead of them. People who played great sports and reached such heights will achieve success in any field. They can even succeed in politics, in sports or create a cool show in Russia. Whatever they undertake, and I am sure there will be a number of proposals, they will succeed,” Batyrshina said, as quoted by Sport24.

At the 2020 Games in Tokyo (Japan), Dina Averina won silver in the individual all-around competition. She is also an 18-time world champion and 10-time European champion. Arina has five victories at the world championships and nine at the continental level.
