“Eteri Georgievna is a very intelligent and determined woman. We support each other” – the first coach of Tutberidze’s daughter

First coach Diane Davis in ice dancing, Maria Borovikova, in a conversation with , recalled the moment when she met Eteri Tutberidze who brought his daughter to the rink.

On Saturday, February 24, Tutberidze turned 50. During his work in figure skating, Tutberidze trained Olympic champions Yulia Lipnitskaya, Alina Zagitova, Anna Shcherbakova and many other famous figure skaters. His daughter Diana Davis specializes in ice dancing and now competes for Georgia alongside Gleb Smolkin.

— We met Eteri Georgievna when she brought her daughter to the rink for her first training session in our group. I remember we had a very warm conversation. After all, this man entrusted us with what was most precious to him: his child. Someone recommended Eteri and my husband when she realized that Diana needed to take up ice dancing and go to specialized specialists.

A few years later, we met again, thanks to Sasha Trusova. I advised her during the training period with Volkov and in the 2019/20 season Sasha asked me to get involved in working on her programs. I came to Khrustalny several times for group training. We practiced elements, rotations, step patterns. Eteri actively participated in the process: she said what she wanted to get from Sasha’s skating in terms of sliding. My task was to improve the presentation of the programs, to give them beauty and tenderness, and to reflect on the judges’ eyes at the right moments. There are a lot of details and we discussed each one in detail. That’s the kind of in-depth approach we got.

Now we meet Eteri at tournaments, we always support each other, we wish success to the students of each team. She is a very intelligent and determined woman who deserves respect. This is exactly what I want above all for her: that she is valued and treated fairly! And of course, health,” Borikova told .
