Athletistic/ Others. Three-time world blitz champion, Russian honored master of chess sports Alexander Grischuk has commented on the refusal of Norwegian Magnus Carlsen to play with Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi in the match for the world chess crown.
“It seems to me that Nepomniachtchi’s match with Ding Liren will be more interesting. I estimated the probability of Magnus playing at 50%. It is quite possible that he will be retained in Moscow, why not?” noted Grischuk.
On July 20, reigning World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen announced that he would not face Candidates Tournament winner Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi in a title match scheduled for early 2023. de Carlsen will be taken by Chinese chess player Ding Liren, who finished second in the Candidates Tournament.
