Swimmer Rylov says world record remains his goal, even if Russians are not allowed in 2024 Olympics

Double Olympic champion Yevgeny Rylov said the world record will remain his main goal, even if the Russians are not allowed in the 2024 Games.

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has announced that it will not invite Russian athletes to competitions until the end of 2022.

– In swimming, until the last moment there is a chance of being selected, we usually have a selection in April. But who knows? Maybe they will do everything on purpose so that we can’t. And they will say beautifully: it’s all for your protection. Let’s see how it will turn out in practice. It is difficult to judge this. In any case, everything will be decided at another level.

– If there are no Olympic Games, and after?

— My goal is time, I will work with it. Let’s see how I finish this year, and then I’ll watch.

– The world record has always been the main objective. Now at 100 or 200m focus?

– 200 m Circumstances are constantly changing. There were changes in my preparation (Oksana Logvinova now works with Rylov – approx.), A new trainer was added to the gym. Muscularly-structurally changed, work too.
