Berlanga: Canelo is desperately looking for opponents, I feel that I am suitable for him

The undefeated Puerto Rican defeated the Irishman Padraig McCrory

Undefeated Puerto Rican boxer Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) challenged the absolute world champion in super middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KO).

“I just won a big win. Yes, I don’t have a belt. I just feel like I’m bigger than a lot of these guys at 168. I know Canelo is struggling to find opponents and I feel like we’re a good fit for him. I think I can lead the division. It’s Puerto Rico and Mexico, the biggest rivalry in boxing.”

Berlanga defeated Irishman Padraig McCrory in a fight that took place on the evening of February 24 in Orlando, USA. The Puerto Rican is considered a leading candidate for the title of mandatory challenger for the WBA super middleweight belt (up to 168 pounds or up to 76 kilograms).

Alvarez previously announced that his next opponent on May 4 will be an American boxer. Canelo is expected to defend his titles against Jermall Charlo. The second candidate for the fight with Alvarez was the Mexican Jaime Munguia.
