Zorya minimally beat Vorskla
Acting head coach Zari Yuri Koval commented on the result of the match with Vorskla (1:0) in the 18th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“After the training camp, there were difficulties in determining the optimal composition of the team. Because almost 80% of the team got sick. We did not fully know the functional state. We decided to start from, so to speak, a proven composition. This game was very important for us. Getting out of the basement is always more difficult.”
“There was also nervousness, because each of us wants to earn points. Although we have quite a few experienced players on our roster.”
“We understood that, considering everything, it was difficult to play combination football. We wanted to play solely for the result. The standard provisions we prepared worked.”
“After being sent off, the opponents were supposed to play football, but it turned out the other way around. We started keeping score. This is normal, it shows that all our guys want to get points. A victory for us is an opportunity to breathe a little easier and prepare for the next matches more calmly.”
“Michin came into the game very well. He could score more than one goal. We had one slot left for replacement; it was purely tactical. It was necessary to strengthen the middle of the field, taking into account defensive actions. I want to thank him for correctly understanding this tactical change. It was an action for the good of the team.”
Zarya won thanks to the only goal from winter recruit Jakov Bašić. Note that from the 70th minute Vorskla played in the minority after Ilya Krupsky was sent off.
Koval’s team is in 12th place in the standings with 15 points. In the next match, Zarya will play against Alexandria on March 3.
