Ukrainian Chufarov is a contender for the Laureus “Disabled Athlete of the Year” award

Daniil is the only representative of Ukraine on the list of nominees for the “Sports Oscar” 2024

Ukrainian Paralympic swimmer Daniil Chufarov shortlisted for the award “Disabled Athlete of the Year” as part of a prestigious award Laureus World Sports Awards.

Chufarov was born in Mariupol in 1989. Won several medals in various disciplines at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympics.

In 2023, Daniil won three gold medals and one silver, and set two world records at the World Paralympic Swimming Championships in Manchester – 14 years after his last major title at a similar world championship in 2009.

Chufarov will compete for the award with other nominees: swimmer Simone Barlaam (Italy), athlete Luca Eclair (Hungary), long jump record holder Markus Rehm (Germany), Dutch wheelchair tennis player Dide de Groot and cyclist Nicole Murray from New Zealand.

The 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards (also known as the “Sports Oscars”) will be presented in various categories in Madrid on April 22.
