The club’s sports director was removed from his duties, the case was transferred to the CDC
Alexandria officially confirmed that the midfielder Ivan Kalyuzhny was not announced for the match with Miner in the 18th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“We inform you that, unfortunately, midfielder Ivan Kalyuzhny was not declared for FC Alexandria in the match with FC Shakhtar on February 26, 2024.”
“We apologize to all fans, teams and coaching staff. This unfortunate error occurred due to human error.”
“Ivan Kalyuzhny has been a player of our club since 2021 and at different times played for other clubs on loan. When adding a player to the application for a game in the UPL system in the “Referee Report” section, the system perceived the player as declared, although he was withdrawn on August 29, 2023, which did not allow a timely response to this situation.”
“The sports director has been suspended from his duties. The case has been referred to the control and disciplinary committee, which will make a decision on this incident.”
In the autumn part of the season, Kalyuzhny played in LNZ on loan. In winter, the midfielder returned to Alexandria. In the match with Shakhtar, which ended in a draw (0:0), Ivan played the entire match.
It was previously reported that at the time of the game with the Miners, the player’s passport still showed his club as LNZ. Participation of an undeclared player in a match results in a technical defeat for the team.
Alexandria ranks 11th in the Ukrainian Championship with 17 points. In the next match, Ruslan Rotan’s team will play against Zorya on March 3.
