RUSADA’s anti-doping disciplinary commission suspended gymnast Angelina Simakova for two years for violating anti-doping rules, the agency’s press service reports.
The period of suspension is calculated from June 2, 2022, “with deduction of the period of provisional suspension served”.
Simakova in 2018 became the European champion in artistic gymnastics in the Russian national team, and also won silver at the World Championships.
Also on Thursday, RUSADA issued a number of disqualifications to representatives of other sports. For the third anti-doping rule violation in 10 years, wrestler Shamil Erdogan, boxer Ruslan Chobanov (for 4 years), track and field athletes Victoria Khitko (for 2 years) and Ivan Balyasnikov (for 4 years), weightlifter Svetlana Rubel (for 4 years) were disqualified for life, sambists Karen Poghosyan (for 5 years) and Dmitry Medvedev (for 1 year), weightlifter Gennady Muratov (for 4 years), as well as basketball player Vadim Khodyrev (for 3 year).
