And about. Minister of Youth and Sports Bedny: Half of my activities are aimed at preventing orcs from participating in international competitions

And about. The Minister of Youth and Sports calls the main goal “the consolidation of the international community around our struggle”

Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny summing up the results of the first 100 days in his position, focused on the importance of opposing the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions.

“We understand that our main goal today is to consolidate the international community around our struggle, and athletes here are among the most powerful ambassadors. This helps the world remember what is happening in Ukraine now. Every license today is already a feat.”

“Half of my work is aimed at preventing orcs from participating in international competitions. This work was carried out earlier, but after the IOC’s decision it generally became a top topic.”

“Today we firmly hold our position, we send powerful messages to the international media, we work on the diplomatic front and see the consequences… We see that some are already offended by our statements. Some people think that we are behaving very arrogantly… We see that a big debate continues in Russian society: they cannot decide whether they need to participate in such conditions or not. It is important to understand that there will be no teams from Russia and Belarus at the Olympic Games,” concluded Bedny.

Back in March last year, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status.

Later, IOC President Thomas Bach spoke about the IOC’s desire to return athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions “for the sake of uniting the whole world at the Olympic Games.” The German called the position of Ukraine, which opposed the admission of all athletes from aggressor countries, “unconstructive.”

In early December, the IOC Executive Committee decided to admit participants from Russia and Belarus in the status of “individual neutral athletes” to the 2024 Olympic Games. In response, Matvey Bedny called the IOC’s decision “irresponsible.”

In turn, the head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, spoke about plans to assemble his own admission database regarding “neutral” athletes admitted to the 2024 Olympic Games.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 735th day.
