Former sports director of the Hungarian Figure Skating Federation Gurgen Vardanyan told that he hopes to use his experience for the benefit of Russian sport.
Previously, the specialist received Russian citizenship and the corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vardanyan is a former Soviet singles skater, born in Yerevan in 1963. In 1987 he became a coach. From 2018 to 2023 he worked as sports director of the Hungarian Figure Skating Federation. He left this post in May last year, which was preceded by scandals: parents of local skaters complained that Vardanyan was giving places in the team to Russian-speaking athletes.
