Coach Svetlana Abramova said that the goals of the pole vault festival are to preserve the traditions of the Soviet-Russian school and attract a large number of athletes from different regions.
On March 3, in the Moscow Arena of the National Research University MGSU, the 5th All-Russian Pole Vault Festival will take place, in which the youngest athletes and pole vault stars of Russia and Belarus will take part .
— When the first festival was conceived, we set ourselves the task of preserving the traditions of the Soviet-Russian school of pole vaulting, we wanted to attract as many participants as possible. These are unofficial competitions, it’s a vacation, a community of pole vaulters.
Young children are the most ardent fans. The emotions that children receive encourage them to stay in this form. The guys from the regions ask their coaches: “Are we coming next year?” Every year the number of participants, the number of regions increases, this year there are even participants from Bashkiria.
Initially, we had the idea of bringing together not only professional athletes, but also amateurs, but due to the fact that the competitions take place on a single day, we cannot afford this. We hope that when we can expand, amateurs and veterans will participate. Last year there was an attempt to organize the festival over two days, with the participation of veterans. We want to give everyone the opportunity to try pole vaulting. We intend not to repeat ourselves, to introduce innovations, to try different formats, ”reports the correspondent of , according to Abramova’s words.
