The Belarusian record holder in pole vaulting said that the aerobatics festival is held at the level of serious international competitions.
On March 3, the Moscow Arena of the National Research University MGSU will host the 5th All-Russian Pole Vault Festival, in which the youngest athletes and pole vault stars of Russia and Belarus will take part.
— I am very happy to be present at the festival again, because I participated in the very first one. Then I managed to jump 5.50 m very well, this remains the best achievement for 15 year old boys. After this festival, I found myself with very pleasant emotions that I want to feel again. We haven’t competed in these competitions for four years and we really wanted to come here.
We rarely see competitions like this, even abroad. Probably, only Montferrand in France and the state of Nevada host events of this scale, in which more than five thousand athletes participate. They take place over two days. I think that sooner or later we will also reach such a mass level in pole vaulting.
I have participated in these festivals and I can say with certainty that the conditions here are much better. They didn’t even jump during the warm-up – there was such a flow of participants that there was no time to put on an elastic band. Here all the guys have time, everything goes as it should, like in a real warm-up. At the moment, this festival can be compared with real international competitions, in some cases even better,” reports correspondent, according to Volkov’s words.
