Today it became known that Christian received the opportunity to play for the Ukrainian national team
Mentor Ukrainian national team U-19 Dmitry Mikhailenko stated that the attacker Watford Christian Shevchenko will receive a call to the next youth team camp.
“Do we know that Christian received a Ukrainian passport? Yes, we know. I am in contact with the coaches and Watford analysts. I watched his last three games. He has a very decent level, so we plan to call him up.”
Today it became known that the son of the President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andrei Shevchenko received a Ukrainian passport. The striker still has to register his football citizenship with FIFA.
Christian was born in London in 2006. From an early age he studied at the Chelsea academy, but the Blues did not enter into an agreement with him, after which the player moved to Watford. The center forward played for the U-18 team. In December, 17-year-old Christian made his debut for Watford U-21.
The Ukrainian U-19 national team will play in the elite round of qualifying for the 2024 European Youth Championship with teams from Switzerland, North Macedonia and Latvia. The matches of this qualifying stage will take place from March 18 to March 26, 2024. Only the winner of the quartet will receive a ticket to the final part of the continental championship.
Euro 2024 U-19 will take place in Northern Ireland from 15 to 28 July 2024. The continental championship will simultaneously serve as a UEFA selection for the 2025 World Cup (U-20).
