The 20-year-old midfielder played irregularly in the Rotan team, but became a starting player under Melgos
Midfielder Brentford Egor Yarmolyuk answered a question about his potential participation in Olympic Games 2024.
“If the national team coach counts on me, then I think reaching an agreement with Brentford will not be a problem.”
Let us remind you that the U-21 national team under the leadership of Ruslan Rotan last summer managed to reach the 1/2 finals of the Youth Euro 2023, which guaranteed itself a historic participation in the Olympics. Ukraine became one of the 16 participants in the Olympic football tournament, the draw for which will take place in Paris on March 20.
Yarmolyuk, who turned 20 on March 1, missed the aforementioned youth European Championship due to injury, and before that he was not an important element of the Rotan team. However, he regularly plays under Unai Melgos – he started all five of Ukraine’s U-21 victories in Euro 2025 qualifying.
At the end of March, the Ukrainian youth team will hold two matches – a sparring match against Morocco U-23 in Turkey and a qualifying match for the European Championship against Azerbaijan in Baku.
Yarmolyuk has appeared on the field 19 times this season wearing a Brentford jersey (as a rule, appearing as a substitute), but has not performed any effective actions.
The football tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 24 to August 9. It will be hosted by Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Nice and Nantes. The current Olympic champion is the Brazilian team, which this time failed to qualify for the final tournament.
