Canada’s proposal constitutes a significant change from the current rules. The Canadians propose removing the clause according to which the skater’s previous federation should give the athlete the right to abdicate.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) since March 2022 due to the military-political situation in the world. Since then, Russians have participated in national competitions.
