Athletistic/Others. Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev expressed the opinion that the IPC requirements for athletes from Russia and Belarus constitute discrimination based on nationality.

“No final decision has yet been made regarding the participation of our athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. After all, we hear different points of view: some think we should go, others don’t. Many famous athletes have already stated that they will not participate in such conditions. It is already hard enough for our athletes and for Belarusian athletes, and now they are deprived of the opportunity to participate in the ceremonies due to their nationality,” Svishchev said according to Vprognoze.ru.

Recall that Russian and Belarusian Paralympians will participate in the next competitions as neutral athletes, which means that they will not be able to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games in Paris. The competition is scheduled for the period from August 28 to September 8 this year.
