Russian figure skater Alexander Gallyamov asked International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach about whether to add the word “together” to the Olympic motto.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Gallyamov, partnered with Anastasia Mishina, won a bronze medal in the pairs competition. The athletes also became the first at the team figure skating tournament as part of the Russian national team, but in January 2024 the results of the competition were revised due to the doping case of Kamila Valieva. From now on, Russians will receive bronze medals instead of gold.

The Olympic motto was created from three Latin words – citius, altius, fortius (Faster, higher, stronger. – Note “TV Match”). This change added the word “together” to the original motto. The new motto is now “Faster, higher, stronger – together”.
