Athletistic/Football. Sports commentator, TV presenter and journalist Dmitry Guberniev today expressed his opinion on the conditions for the admission of Russian Paralympic athletes to the upcoming Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has published a set of criteria according to which, among other things, Russian athletes are prohibited from participating in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.

“What were you waiting for? I don’t even think they’ll go. Did we really expect them to be allowed into the ceremonies? If they do go, it will be in limited numbers , if they are lucky. I even doubt that they will be allowed to give interviews and express their national identity. It would be strange if they were allowed to participate in the opening ceremony. We have already witnessed of discrimination against our Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

As for the Paralympians, remember what happened during the last Beijing Games, when they were simply expelled. So this is definitely discrimination, I don’t see any other term. Discrimination based on nationality. If you’re Russian, get out. But even in such a situation, it is important to perform and present yourself to the whole world,” Guberniev emphasized in an interview with Soviet Sport.

The Paris Paralympic Games are scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024.
