Former Russian figure skater Betina Popova who practiced ice dancing, admitted to having decided to become a choreographer even before the end of his competitive career in 2020.
– I decided to become a choreographer a long time ago, when I was skating myself, because I didn’t always like the decisions of the coach he used in our programs. I saw it somehow in my own way, I wanted to realize myself in it, so I went to GITIS, I got training as a ballet master there and now I can work in this area. Of course, you want to bring something new, but you have to do it very carefully, gradually, because the audience and the judges are not always ready for it, said Betina Popova “Championship”.
Popova began her career in individual skating, then switched to ice dancing, forming a pair with Yuri Vlasenko.
Together with Sergey Mozgov, Popova became the winner of the Universiade (2019), the silver medalist of the Russian Cup (2017, 2019) and a participant in the Grand Prix tournaments (2017-2019).
