“We are not going to add a quadruple axel to the program yet, it is a big responsibility” – coach Dikiji

Russian figure skater Vladislav Dikidji does not yet plan to add the quadruple axel to the competitive program, because it is a big responsibility, the athlete’s coach Oleg Tataurov told .

On Thursday, Dikiji posted a video on social media showing an impeccable performance of a quadruple axel. The first skater in history who managed to perform this element cleanly during official competitions was the American Ilya Malinin.

— Today Vladislav tried it for the first time (quadruple axel) and did it straight away. We promised to teach him a little, so we finished teaching him this jump. Of course, we were happy when he performed the axel cleanly.

— During your next training session, will you work on this jump so that it is stable?

— Inserting this jump into the program is a big responsibility. It’s not that expensive, but the risk is very high. We will continue to think. For the moment, it is only in the training phase. There is no question of including it in the program yet.

— Are there any other complex elements you plan to study?

“He has everything in his arsenal.” Vladislav jumps and flips, buckle, salchow, sheepskin coat,” Tataurov told .

In the 2023/24 season, Dikiji won gold at two stages of the Russian Grand Prix and silver at the Russian Championship.
