Olympic silver medalist Alexandre Enbert told he was happy for the skater Vladislav Dikidji who managed to perform a quad Axel cleanly in training.
Earlier, 19-year-old Dikiji posted a video on his Telegram channel in which he cleanly performs a quadruple axel. The first skater in history who managed to perform this element cleanly during official competitions was the American Ilya Malinin.
“The moment Ilya Malinin jumped the quadruple axel, it became clear that it was possible and in the future we will see this jump in competitions. Our guys tried to do it in practice, Yuzuru Hanyu tried to do it at the box office. The first step is very important. Malinin’s great merit is to have succeeded.
Now athletes with completely different thoughts approach quadruple axel attempts. They understand that they are already taking this big leap. It gives strength, motivation, confidence.
I am very happy for Vlad Dikidzhi. I’m sure our other young athletes are also eager to try this item. Maybe someone is already trying. I am sure we will see the quadruple axel in competitions next season,” Enbert told .
In the 2023/24 season, Dikiji won gold at two stages of the Russian Grand Prix and silver at the Russian Championship.
