“At the start of the competition, this cloud was not that dangerous. I didn’t want to organize the tournament there” – Vyalbe about the failure of the students at the Spartakiad

President of the Russian Ski Federation (RFSR) Elena Vyalbe reported that at the start of the student Spartakiad women’s race, the track was not dangerous.

Cross-country skiing competitions are held in the village of Estosadok. Friday, during the general start race, several skiers were injured following a fall. Earlier, Vyalbe told that two athletes were in hospital: one suffered a head injury, the second had a broken arm.

– Injuries ? Two wrists, one rib, but no one has sent me any cranial information yet.

— Will there be a trial?

– What should the trial look like?

– Why did they come out in such conditions?

— At the start of the competition, this cloud was not so dangerous that we did not go to the starting line. And if you’ve been to Sochi, you know that in ten minutes a cloud can fall and you can no longer see anything. I have a video where I see people, but it’s not like we don’t see anything.

“A lot of people said track wasn’t for kids at that level.

— Unfortunately, I would not want to organize these competitions there. But I am not the organizer, nor the FLGR, the questions are addressed to the Ministry of Sports,” Vyalbe told .
