“Kostomarov is a great athlete and a great person” – Valery Kamensky

Olympic champion of the Russian national hockey team Valery Kamensky told that he follows figure skating and also wishes Roman Kostomarov health.

On March 8, the Loko-Ice skating rink hosts the Open Ice festive event, which included competitions in amateur figure skating, a master class from Eteri Tutberidze, figure skater Alexandra Trusova and hockey player Valery Kamensky.

— How did the master class go?

“The most important thing is that the children are happy, that they had fun and that someone remembers something.” I think the guys are promising, they want to play hockey, they love hockey. This is the most important thing, the rest will come. Everyone is happy: the parents are happy, the children are happy. The party took place. It was an improvisation. I didn’t know how old the kids would be, so thanks to the coach who helped me. Thank you all.

— Eteri Tutberidze and Alexandra Trusova gave master classes before you, do you follow figure skating?

– Of course, I’m watching. It is one of the main sports of our country. I know a lot of skaters. Hockey and figure skating have a lot in common. Many figure skaters teach hockey players to skate, many hockey players start in figure skating and then come to hockey. We live together as a friendly family. Naturally, we are happy to meet and celebrate such holidays.

— Have you attended any figure skating competitions?

– Naturally. I watched figure skating at the Sochi Olympics. I watch on TV. Now the shows are very interesting, the shows of Tatiana Navka, Evgeni Plushenko and other guys. I’m happy to watch.

— Which skaters can you single out?

– Plushenko and Yagudin. Roman Kostomarov, who experienced something you wouldn’t wish on your enemy. But he’s great, he’s in control. I want to wish him good health. “A great athlete and a great person,” Kamensky told .

Early last year, Kostomarov was hospitalized due to complications from pneumonia. The athlete suffered several limb amputations following tissue necrosis. Kostomarov then underwent prosthetic surgery, and in December he returned to ice skating in Ilya Averbukh’s show.
