“There was definitely more than one fracture, a lot of people fell.” The skier spoke about the failure of students at the Spartakiad

Skier Veronika Golovleva spoke on about the injuries she suffered following a collapse during a competition at the student Spartakiad.

On Friday, during the general start race in the village of Estosadok, several skiers were injured following a collapse. The president of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), Elena Vyalbe, told that two athletes were in hospital: one suffered a head injury, the second had a broken arm. In total, 14 skiers failed to finish.

— The stick pierced my leg just below the knee, it was slightly swollen. I think I got off easy, considering the others’ injuries. They write on the Internet that there were literally one or two injured and only nine people were taken away, but in reality there are many broken people, it’s not just one person. There are concussions, broken necks, ribs, arms and legs. There was definitely more than one fracture, a lot of people fell,” Golovleva said on the air of the show “Everyone for the match!”.

In response to Friday’s incident, an inspection was organized by the Investigative Department of the Adler district of the city of Sochi of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory.
