FLGR technical delegate on a collapse involving female skiers: “During the meeting of team representatives, there were no complaints regarding the course”

Technical delegate of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Igor Belomestnov told that there were no complaints from representatives of the teams participating in the Spartakiad mass start among the students of the village of Estosadok.

Friday, during the general start race, several skiers were injured following a fall. Earlier, the head of the FLGR, Elena Vyalbe, told that two athletes were in the hospital: one suffered a head injury, the second had a broken arm.

— Why were we allowed to organize the race?

– Why should there be a ban?

— Were the weather conditions different before departure?

— from 7 to 9 a.m. there was a heavy load of snow that completely covered the ski slope with a dense layer. It did not snow during the competition, but the object was in an area of thick and partly cloudy clouds.

— Did the coaches and athletes know the course in advance?

— Information for teams (with route diagrams) was posted on the FLGR website in January. All competition tracks comply with competition rules and have approval certificates. The athletes have been in the facilities since March 6. The track has been prepared and is being prepared every day. The first day of competition (split freestyle start) on this course has already passed. Yesterday there was an official training session on the competition track. At the meeting of team representatives, there were no complaints about the mass start track.

— Why was a snowcat allowed on the slope where the girls fell before the race?

— Due to the absence of a ski slope (it was filled in). The jury decided to build a new ski slope. There was no ice on the trail.

—Who do you think is responsible for what happened on the highway?

“It’s a strange question,” Belomestnov told .
