Athletistic/ Others. Russian chess player Ian Nepomniachtchi moved up to sixth place after completing all nine rapid games in the third round of the Grand Chess Tour series. The competitions take place in Zagreb (Croatia).
On the third day of the competition, Nepomniachtchi had two wins and lost. The Russian beat the Frenchman Maxime Vachier-Lagrave with the black pieces, beat the Bulgarian Veselin Topalov with the white pieces and lost with the black pieces against the Croatian Ivan Saric.
According to the results of the rapid, Nepomniachtchi scored nine points out of a possible 18. Dutch representative Jorden van Forest is in the lead (12 points).
On July 23 and 24, the tournament will continue with blitz games.
