Choreographer Ilya Averbukh believes that competition in national tournaments will allow Russian skaters to return to the world stage at a decent level.
Russian athletes have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
— Like all Russian sports, figure skating is going through a difficult period today, because we have been completely illegally and unfairly excluded from international performances. This can only have an effect.
If we talk about figure skating, the FFKKR, Moskomsport and other federations are doing a lot of work. There are a large number of very high level tournaments which support the competition, which does not take away from the internal motivation. Such motivation that we will be able to return among the world elites as soon as this injustice has passed. “All this allows us to maintain our figure skating at a high level,” reports correspondent Averbukh’s words.
