Skier Arina Maksimova from the Republic of Udmurtia told that she had never participated in races at altitude and therefore did not feel very good at the Student Spartakiad in Sochi.
On Friday, during a race on the track of the Laura ski and biathlon complex, several minor skiers suffered injuries of varying severity as a result of a collapse. Maksimova was among 14 athletes who failed to finish. Maksimova told that she had several fractures in her arm.
“There may be a lack of oxygen on board the Laura, which could even cause you to lose consciousness.” Was it like this?
– Yes, it affects your well-being. Not every region has the opportunity to fly to the mountains and train here. We arrived here literally in one day, it was our first time in the mountains.
— Did you arrive a day in advance because the region does not have the financial means to bring the team in advance? You need to spend more money on your living expenses.
– Well yes.
— Have you already followed mining training in the quarry?
– No it’s the first time. It was hard to adapt. On the first day, during the last climb, I felt that everything was not as usual,” Maksimova told .
