Our country is represented by 30 athletes
Team of Ukrainian veterans and military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukrainewho were seriously injured, successfully began competing in adaptive sports competitions United States Air Force Trials 2024.
The first competition finals were held in powerlifting. In this sport, the “blue-yellows” won six medals: three gold and three silver each.
The champions of the competition were veteran of the State Border Guard Service Vadim Gilchuk, police officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alan Boliev and national guard Artem Kots.
Silver awards were won by Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen Vadim Kirichenko and Ilya Denisenko, as well as a representative of the National Guard Igor Butenko.
The Ukrainian team includes 30 athletes who will compete in nine adaptive sports: archery, athletics, cycling, powerlifting, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.
The main goal of the competition is to attract veterans and military personnel to sports, and to popularize rehabilitation through sports events among veterans. Ukraine will take part in these competitions for the first time.
The United States Air Force Trials 2024 event takes place in Las Vegas from March 4 to 16.
