“Petya loves modern art, Kandinsky is closer to him than all other avant-garde artists” – Gumennik’s mother

Elena Gumennik, mother of the figure skater Pierre Gumennik told that his son chose the theme of Russian avant-garde for the show program tournament because he really likes contemporary art, especially the work of Wassily Kandinsky.

On Saturday, the Russian vice-champion and winner of the Russian Grand Prix final, Pyotr Gumennik, presented the show “Russian Avant-garde” to the music of Alexander Scriabin. The tournament of the show program “Russian Challenge” took place in St. Petersburg and the Olympic champion Alexey Yagudin became the winner.

— Initially, the idea came to Peter. He loves contemporary art and doesn’t miss major exhibitions: Munch, Picasso, Matisse, Malevitch. This idea was supported by his brother Ivan, who studies art and history of movements and is a laureate of the Olympiads. He emphasized that the avant-garde is precisely a Russian theme.

We have a special love for Vasily Kandinsky (by the way, a relative of the same psychiatrist, whose doctors know more than about the artist), even our youngest son Kolya is interested in his work. And this Russian artist is closer to Petya than all other avant-garde artists. Scriabin’s music was chosen by the entire technical staff because Scriabin was the first to introduce the concept of “light music” and the idea of combining all types of art. The director of the show, Nikolai Yurievich Moroshkin, supported the theme and implemented it, for which I thank him very much. And Svetlana Gachinskaya, as usual, did a brilliant job with the costume,” Elena Gumennik told .
