The “Gypsy King” said he expected a knockout in the first round
WBC heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury believes that the ex-world champion Anthony Joshua performed at the required level, knocking out the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
“I think it was a fantastic knockout. It was a very rude awakening for Ngannou. He became a little cocky, that’s what happened. He got knocked out and that’s what a boxer has to do to an MMA fighter.”
“So you have to give credit to AJ because he did a fantastic job. I expected this to happen. I said Anthony would win during the round, but today I was wrong.”
Joshua defeated Ngannou during the boxing evening, which took place in Saudi Arabia. Already in the first round, the Briton shocked the Cameroonian with a powerful blow, knocking him down. Francis managed to get up and continue the fight, but in the second round Joshua carried out another great attack and knocked out his opponent.
After the fight, the British promoter Eddie Hearn called on Tyson Fury to fight AJ. Hearn said that if “The Gypsy King” beats Usyk for the undisputed title, he should give up the rematch to fight Joshua.
