General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan believes that the return of Russian athletes to international competitions will depend on the position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
– I think the situation, if it develops in this direction, will be in sport in general, and not in certain individual federations. After all, even now it is clear that except for a few other sports, no overall change is taking place. Everything will depend on the position of the IOC on this question. After all, most international federations receive large sums from the IOC, some presidents of international federations are members of the organization or other bodies associated with it, and for these reasons do not want to come into conflict. To a large extent, it also depends on the independence of the leaders of the international federations and their ability to defend their point of view, Kogan told RT.
The International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices in the spring due to the situation in Ukraine.
