Seven-time Olympic synchronized swimming champion Svetlana Romachina said she views her sport’s new rules as destructive.
World Aquatics has held two world championships since the new rules were introduced.
“The new rules are disastrous for our sport. We wanted to do it better, make it more objective, so that it would more closely resemble the figure skating scoring system. And we have already seen competitions on the international scene, where it is not the strongest teams that have won. They were probably more prepared for these rules, and besides, there were three judges,” Romashina said, speaking in the Knowledge Society conference room.
