This is already the second Ukrainian gold at the tournament in Leiria
Ukrainian track and field athlete Arthur Felfnerspecializing in javelin throwing, became winner of the European Cup in Leiria, Portugal.
In his first attempt, Arthur threw the javelin 76.64 meters. In the second, the Ukrainian managed to improve his result to 81.89 m. None of his opponents was able to surpass this figure. The top three were rounded out by Romanian Alexandru Novak and Greek Ioannis Kyriazis.
This award was the first for the 20-year-old athlete at the adult level. Let us remember that a year ago at the European Cup in throwing disciplines in Leiria, Felfner became the winner in the U-23 category. Later, in July, Arthur won gold at the 2023 Youth European Championship.
Earlier at the 2024 European Cup, Mikhail Kokhan became the champion in the hammer throw with a season record, and his colleague Mikhail Brudin became the silver medalist among juniors.
