Valieva pleased us, despite her case (we are talking about the procedure before the CAS), which runs like a common thread throughout the season and, in general, all sports in our country.

If we return to the sporting aspect, the competition remains and this season has not revealed a precise leader. Some performed very well at the Grand Prix stages, but it was harder to fight at the CR. Adelia has been the best this season, but we cannot say that she is above everyone and beyond the competition. The girls are fighting and there are many who could become champions next year. Fierce competition may continue in the future.

Men

— Many people wanted to see clear and cool performances from Mark Kondratyuk. When he’s skating in the mood for a performance and everything is going well, he feels a special energy that captivates you. He had wonderful numbers in the play “Carmen” by Ilya Averbukh, which captivated the audience and himself. It did not work out during the competition, it is difficult to say why – lack of physical preparation, fatigue or emotional component. It happens in sports. Mark is determined to continue the fight. I hope that next year we will see from him the performances that everyone expects.

The men have a fierce fight, the competition does not forgive mistakes. The guys haven’t had something like this in a long time. Everyone can win and lose. It adds emotion to me as a spectator.

Couples

— I liked the rest of the fight between Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Gallyamov and Alexandra Boykova/Dmitry Kozlovsky, who now represent different groups. The confrontation is interesting. This season, the young couples are imposing competition on them. This isn’t to say that the guys above are unattainable, but they are still head and shoulders above everyone else.

Dancing on ice

– There was a stabilization, our favorites returned – Alexandra Stepanova / Ivan Bukin. Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva/Egor Bazin skated regularly this year, which is good news. The season went well in terms of performances, there were no surprises in partner changes etc. It was possible to focus on the competition on the ice and not on the transitions.

The breakup of the Vasilisa Kaganovskaya/Valery Angelopol couple occurred before the start of the season; this separation ended a period of turbulence in the world of ice dancing. Valéry tried it with a partner and is now training with another. But this is not comparable to what happened a year ago in this discipline. The offseason was vague, but the season itself was quiet.

Expectations for next season

“Some young people will brilliantly reach the adult level, but they need time to reach leadership positions. It is of course possible that an incredible breakthrough will happen – and one of the juniors will be able to immediately take the top places on the podium.

Next season, I would like to see international tournaments emerge, at least with certain countries in certain formats. For example, the Future Games were recently held in Kazan, in which representatives from several countries took part. I would like us to see formats in which our skaters compete with athletes from China, Belarus and other countries. Yes, the Russian team is too strong and it is unlikely that any country will be able to impose the competition. But I still want to keep the intrigue.
