FLGR opened an internal investigation into the incident during a ski race at Spartakiad in Sochi

The Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) has opened an internal investigation into whether skiers were injured during competitions in Sochi during a snowstorm, the organization’s press service reports.

On Friday, during a race on the track of the Laura ski and biathlon complex, several minor skiers suffered injuries of varying severity as a result of a collapse. A total of 17 people were taken to hospital with injuries.

— On the second day of competition, during the classic style mass start, the girls had a massive fall on the descent. Unfortunately, several athletes suffered injuries and bruises during their fall. We would all like such situations not to happen.

We wish the skiers a speedy recovery and good health. Elite sport carries certain risks, but at the same time it cultivates many important qualities: perseverance and the ability to overcome difficulties, not to give up and move forward, to fall and get up again, to be strong physically and spiritually.

Currently, the Russian Ski Racing Federation is conducting an internal investigation into the incident at the Spartakiade in Sochi. The results of the investigation will be made public,” the FLGR website reports.
