Athletistic / Olympics. Olympic champion of the 2006 Turin (Italy) Games, legendary Russian figure skater Roman Kostomarov, shared his opinion on the trip of Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France) in neutral status.

“It’s difficult for me to say what I would do. I think it should be the decision of athletes, coaches who spend their whole lives trying to achieve the best result, Olympic gold. But, of course , the situation is very difficult. Without an anthem, without a flag… However, it is the choice of each person who is ready to perform like this or not. It is at the discretion of each athlete,” Kostomarov said in the championship.

On December 8, the IOC Executive Committee decided to admit athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games with individual neutral status and subject to a number of conditions. It should be noted that athletes from Russia and Belarus can participate in the Paris Games only in individual disciplines, while team sports competitions will be held without the participation of these countries.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In February, Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Alexei Morozov said that up to 100 Russian athletes could qualify for the 2024 Games.
