Choreographer Elizaveta Navislavskaya told that when staging a program for Evgenia Semenenko on the song “Cranes”, she was looking for a natural expression of emotions on the part of the skater.
Russian champion Semenenko performed at the tournament of the Russian Challenge show program. The event took place on March 9 in St. Petersburg and the winner was Olympic champion Alexey Yagudin.
— We had a big brainstorm. We sat down with Alexey Nikolaevich [Мишиным], Nikita Mikhailov and Zhenya all brainstormed music ideas for the program together. In the end, we decided on “Cranes”. Nikita and I came up with an execution option and a concept. Nikita choreographed the program for Zhenya and I helped with the emotional expressiveness. There, it was dangerous to fall into an image of cheap suffering, even if it was the simplest thing to do. It seems to me that the result turned out to be decent and Zhenya implemented everything perfectly.
Of course, it’s a shame he didn’t win an award. I think the unfortunate arrangement played a role in this: he still played in the middle of the first game,” Navislavskaya told .
