Figure skater Pavel Drozd dancing in ice dance with Elizaveta Shanaeva, told that he enjoyed watching the movie “Office Romance” when he was preparing an act for a program tournament based on the film.

On March 9, the Russian Challenge tournament took place in St. Petersburg. Shanaeva and Drozd performed a number in the images of Lyudmila Prokofievna and Comrade Novoseltsev from the film “Office Romance” by Eldar Ryazanov. The winner of the tournament was Alexey Yagudin.

— The idea for the show was born quite quickly between us and the technical staff. Taking this opportunity, I would like to immediately thank Alexander Vyacheslavovich Zhulin and Igor Orshulyak for creating this issue. “Office Romance” is such a cult and beloved film that it can be considered a legacy of Soviet cinema.

It was interesting working on the number. Comrade Novoseltsev is a completely new role for me. I watched the film with pleasure and tried to glean the nuances of the hero’s behavior to make it more readable. A lot of work has been done. We were pleased with the way Yubileiny received our room. Many thanks to the viewers of our native St. Petersburg. It was a pleasure for me to ride at home. I would also like to thank the stylist Alexey Chesnokov for his help. He chose for me the image of Comrade Novoseltsev, he managed to find a Soviet costume from the GDR.

— How do you evaluate the tournament format?

— We participated for the first time in the “Russian Challenge”. The show is interesting, nice format. This is an opportunity to try a different role and go beyond sports programs. It’s good. Such tournaments are important, necessary and interesting,” Drozd told .
