“Maybe it’s for the best that Trusova’s master class was cancelled. In Sweden, even Ibrahimovic was hunted down” – Yagudin

Olympic champion Alexei Yagudine in an interview with commented on the cancellation of the master class of the Russian figure skater Alexandra Trousova in Stockholm.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised. The reason lies on the surface. I have always said and will continue to say that it is no longer a sport, but a political battleground. But Sasha Trusova will not go anywhere – she is the property of our figure skating and world skating as well – everyone understands that.

But the Swedish federation does not understand that the Swedish skaters and skaters, who are currently at an incomprehensible level, have lost the opportunity to touch the figure skating star in verbal and training plans. Or they get it and simply succumb to outside pressure.

But on the other hand, maybe it’s for the best. I remember Swedish football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic being bullied in Sweden a few years ago. It was even written on his house that he was a Judas. So Sasha wasn’t expecting the warmest welcome either? I understand that the level of popularity of football and figure skating in Sweden is on different planes, but still. Sasha is a young girl, and obviously even for 5-10 live haters meeting her there with negative posters, she wouldn’t be ready. But maybe the figure skating audience in Sweden is more adequate than the football audience.

I also want to remind the Swedish Figure Skating Federation that figure skating in their country is in a terrible state. And they weren’t thinking about any politics when my first coach Alexander Mayorov’s sons were playing for them,” Yagudin said.

Earlier, a source said organizers of Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova’s master class in Stockholm were forced to cancel the event under pressure from the Swedish Figure Skating Federation.
