Pusic: We should have scored more goals

The Miners confidently beat Minai

Head coach Shakhtar Marino Pusic commented on the victory over Let’s go (2:0) in the 21st round match Ukrainian Premier League.

“Did we manage to implement everything we planned? Yes, except that they wanted to score more goals. We need to score more goals because we created a lot of chances.”

“I think we started the game fantastically, we came out very focused and organized, we attacked a lot. Maybe finishing is the only thing I can complain about, but I don’t because it’s football and you can’t always take all your chances. Therefore, this is probably the only thing – we must score more goals. But my players carried out the plan for the match very well and deserve compliments for today’s game.”

“It is very important for us to win many games in a row and we are doing that now. And, as I see from our last two games before the winter break, these are six wins in a row in the championship, which is very good and very important. We made progress during the off-season, we worked really hard and I’m very happy with it. And of course, like every team, we still have something to work on and become even better.”

“We fought for first place – and now we are in first place. People often say that it is easier to get there than to stay there. Because this is not the end yet.”

“As I said, we have made progress, there is very serious competition. And indeed we have created good conditions for the second part of the last stage of the season. We have to be focused, work very hard for every point, against every opponent, because this is a very difficult championship, and I felt it. We have worked well, we have not reached the finish line yet, so we must concentrate on the next games. And in fact, we always go from game to game, because many matches and points are still ahead. So, we move from game to game.”

Shakhtar scored twice in the first half. First, Georgy Sudakov converted the penalty awarded for a foul against Efim Konoplya. Six minutes later, Daniil Sikan scored the second goal.

Pusic’s team leads the UPL, three points ahead of Krivbass. On March 30, Shakhtar will play away against Obolon.
