He took part in battles in eastern Ukraine

Master of Sports of Ukraine in rowing died in the war with the Russian occupiers Dmitry Gubanov.

The multiple champion of Ukraine, bronze medalist of the European Championship, joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation. Gubanov took part in battles in eastern Ukraine. The athlete stopped communicating in early August 2023. However, Gubanov’s death became known only now.

Earlier it became known about the death of European Junior Judo Cup winner Stanislav Gulenkov. The warrior carried out a combat mission near the village of Novokalinovoye, Donetsk region, and died on April 20, 2023. Only recently was it possible to identify the soldier’s body.

In early February, it was reported that European and world powerlifting champion Alexander Bilokon died at the front. At the end of January, the formerly famous football player, Dynamo graduate Sergei Rozhk, passed away.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 749th day.
