“I am very happy that we were able to bring together a small number of countries with strong athletes” – Gornosko

Belarusian gymnast Alina Gornosko commented on the results of the launch day of the Crystal Rose tournament, which takes place in Minsk.

Gornosko leads after the first day of the team all-around. According to the results of exercises with a hoop and a ball, the gymnast received 73.55 points. Russian Lala Kramarenko takes second place (71.95 points), Arina Averina – 3rd (71.3), her sister Dina – 5th (70.75).

– Today I am satisfied with my performance, I perform at home. I am very happy that we were able to bring together a small number of countries with strong athletes and continue to move towards our goals, no matter what.

– Can we say that the level of the tournament corresponds to the level of the European Championship?

– I don’t want to make these comparisons, but there are two Olympic medalists at the tournament, so why not. This, of course, encourages me, I am happy to meet Russian gymnasts, we are all of a high level. We are happy to fight for medals in the European and World Championships, and now we are supporting each other here.

– How does it feel to be an intermediate leader with such a stellar line-up?

“To be honest, I don’t really follow the results. I did the best I could today, I was a bit worried about the home performance and all the sores I’m trying to hide. Today I positively rate my performance, tomorrow is a new day, then the final – the last push. I play at home, I have such support, it’s very good that Russia came.

– Doesn’t it go down when such active support is shouted during performances?

– No, it’s not distracting. I am focused on my exercise and I can only really rejoice after the performance. At first I can exhale, thank everyone, and only then hear all this noise, stomping, screaming, but there is total concentration on the exercise,” Gornosko told reporters.

The tournament will end on July 24.
