The center back will not play for the Miners this season
Mentor Shakhtar Marino Pusic commented on the situation with the central defender Dmitry Chigrinsky.
“Chigrinsky was absent for a long period due to injury, and then he could not return in the offseason. But I can say something about him: he is a very good person, a great player with an incredible career – and we should all respect that. And I respect him very much, because the entire time he was in the ranks, Dmitry played and trained with us, he was always with the team. Fantastic player.”
This season, the 37-year-old center back has played only four games for the Miners. It was reported that Shakhtar excluded Dmitry from the application for the current Ukrainian Championship. The player’s agent, Alexander Pankov, said that the reason for the player’s absence from the field was a recurrence of a complex injury.
Chigrinsky returned to Shakhtar in the summer of 2023. The defender became a free agent and signed a contract until June 30, 2024.
Pusic’s team leads the UPL, three points ahead of Krivbass. On March 30, Shakhtar will play away against Obolon.
